Cheryl Miller
Cheryl Miller is simply the best, arguably the greatest female basketball player to ever hit the hardwood. One of the nations most celebrated athletes, revolutionizing women's basketball with her intensity, skill, and unprecedented success. She put the "P" in passion and the "S" in sensational, considered a dynamo before ESPN had highlights.
A member of an elite group, Miller, has been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 1995 was inducted into the USC Athletic Hall of Fame. She has dominated the courts for more than 30 years. Miller was an enigma as an AAU and high school player scoring 105 points in one game, a superstar at USC (3-time Naismith Player of the Year, 2-time NCAA Champion, 4-time Kodak All-America, countless USC & NCAA records), led the 1984 Olympic team to a Gold Medal, guided her alma mater as Head Coach from 1993-1995, was the inaugural Head Coach and General Manager of the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, and has become a staple on NBA sidelines as a reporter for TNT Sports.
Miller comes from a very talented family. Her oldest brother, Saul Jr. is an accomplished jazz musician. Miller's other big brother, Darrell, played pro baseball for the California Angels. Younger brother, Reggie, was a star in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers and cross-town rival UCLA Bruins and has again followed in his sister's footsteps as an analyst for TNT Sports. Her baby sister Tammy played volleyball at Fullerton College, has an impressive career in pharmaceutical sales, and is devoted wife and mother of two.
Over the last 12 years, Miller has thrived in television as a studio host, analyst, and reporter for TNT Sports covering the NBA and USA Basketball. Her broadcasting career began in 1989 as a reporter for ABC Sports, and covered Men's and Women's Basketball for NBC at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Miller has also been successful in acting with several guest starring roles on shows like, Queen Latifah's "Living Single", "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper", and Nickelodeon's "Sports Theater".
Miller is a highly sought after motivational speaker, and has been a spokesperson for several organizations including the Los Angeles Literacy Campaign, the African American Council for Big Sisters of Los Angeles, and the Pediatric Aids Foundation.
Her passion for sports continues to burn deep. Miller has reunited with her former teammate and friend of 25 years, Rhonda Windham, and serves as CEO of their company, 2131 Sports and Entertainment. The pair is committed to empower and inspire girls and women of all ages by creating opportunities for them in sports, entertainment, and business.
Recently, Miller had her jersey re-retired at the inaugural USC Women's Basketball game in Galen Center (1st USC basketball player, male or female to ever have their jersey retired, 1987), was the 2006 co-chair at homecoming for USC Black Alumni Association, and received the Humanitarian Award from the NBA Legends Association during the 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend.
