Since its establishment in 2006, The California Sports Hall of Fame recognizes and honors California’s greatest sports figures and leverages this collective celebrity to promote fitness awareness, education and sports activities among our state’s youth and adults. Equally important is the promotion of the qualities of discipline and honor among sports participants.

To be eligible, the CASHOF candidates must have been born in the state of California, have significant state ties, or spent a substantial part of their amateur or professional careers in the state.  Nominations of potential candidates are accepted from the public at large as well as the Advisory Committee and current Hall of Fame members. After a vetting process, eligible and qualified candidates are voted on by an electorate that includes the organization’s Founder and Advisory Committee.

Induction into the CASHOF is the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. Honorees have typically spent decades in the sports industry; they have been leaders in the industry; and they have an extensive list of accomplishments.

CRITERIA: The qualification for nomination for induction to the CASHOF is to have had an impact in professional sports in California while playing, coaching, writing, or announcing sports for any school, team, or sports media company in California.

SELECTION PROCESS: Nominations for the California Sports Hall of Fame are open to the public. The public can send in names with the final selection belonging to the CASHOF Advisory Council, Christian Okoye, and the Executive Management team of GOCAL and GOSEA.  The annual inductees are notified. If the winning nominees accept their induction, they must attend the gala inductee dinner and celebration to be officially inducted into the CASHOF. If a nominee rejects or is unable to attend their induction, another selection may be made.  The goal is a minimum of four (4) and up to six (6) inductees annually that will attend the CASHOF Inductee Gala.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION: The California Sports Hall of Fame affirms our commitment to diversity and inclusion and considers them essential elements of a vibrant community integral to our mission. We are determined to foster an environment of inclusion, diversity, openness, and respect for the many differences that will enrich the CASHOF community, including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, socioeconomic status, national origin, language, sexual orientation, and disability.
